Two accused involved in house theft arrested by police; committed crimes to fund drug addiction, rapidly growing drug trade in the area giving rise to criminals

Haridwar: Sidcul Police Station has successfully solved a house theft case and arrested two accused, including a minor. Police recovered three stolen mobile phones and an iron rod allegedly used in the crime from their possession.
According to information, Vipin Giri, a resident of Mahavir Vihar, Rawali Mahdood, lodged a complaint at Sidcul Police Station on May 27, 2026, stating that a Vivo mobile phone and a piggy bank containing around ₹10,000 had been stolen from his house. Following the complaint, police registered a case against unknown persons and initiated an investigation.
During the investigation, the police team received confidential information, based on which two suspicious youths standing at Mahindra Park were detained on May 28. During the search, police recovered three mobile phones and an iron rod piece from them.
During interrogation, both accused confessed to the theft and revealed that they were friends who used to commit thefts to meet the expenses of their smack addiction. They admitted to stealing the mobile phone and piggy bank from the house in Mahavir Vihar. The cash kept in the piggy bank had already been divided and spent by them.
After verifying the IMEI numbers of the recovered mobile phones, one phone was found linked to the theft case, following which police arrested Sameer alias Maggi. His minor accomplice was taken into custody as per legal procedures.
According to the police, information regarding the other two recovered mobile phones is also being gathered. Further legal proceedings in the matter are underway.
The arrested accused has been identified as Sameer alias Maggi, son of Gangaram, resident near Government School, Rawali Mahdood, Sidcul Police Station area, Haridwar district, while the second accused is said to be a juvenile in conflict with law.
Police recovered three mobile phones and an iron rod piece used in the crime from the possession of the accused. Sub-Inspector Jai Singh Rana and Head Constable Sohan Rana played an important role in solving the case.
