Awareness Campaign Held in Haridwar on International Day Against Drug Abuse; 250 People Pledge to Build a Drug-Free Society

Haridwar: On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse, a joint public awareness programme was organized at the Police Lines Auditorium under the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police. The programme was conducted by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), ANTF Haridwar, and the Health Department.
Participants from various de-addiction centres across Haridwar, along with recruit police constables undergoing training, were educated in detail about the harmful effects of drug abuse. Informative awareness videos highlighting the consequences of substance addiction were also screened during the programme.
Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) and In-charge of the District Legal Services Authority elaborated on the adverse effects of drug abuse, its legal implications, and the importance of leading a drug-free life.
The Health Department conducted medical check-ups for individuals affected by substance abuse. Meanwhile, the ANTF team not only spread awareness about de-addiction but also educated participants on cyber fraud prevention, urging them to share this knowledge with their family members and society.
Participants were also informed about the Manas Portal Helpline (1933) for drug-related assistance, the Cyber Crime Helpline (1930), and other police helpline numbers so they could seek help whenever required.
At the conclusion of the programme, all participants pledged to contribute towards building a drug-free society. Around 250 people, including members of the District Legal Services Authority, ANTF Haridwar, Health Department officials, participants from de-addiction centres, recruit police constables, and other staff, attended the event.
