Haridwar/Bhagwanpur: A criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 was shot in the leg in an encounter with Haridwar police, he had committed robbery 2 years ago in Pathri area.
This evening, during routine checking by police station Bhagwanpur police team on Madanpur Hasanpur Road, just before village Khedi Shikohpur, a motorcycle rider, who was coming from Madanpur Hasanpur,
Suddenly, seeing the police, he fired lethal fire at the police team, turned the motorcycle back and started going back rapidly, firing in the air, on which Inspector Narendra Singh, who was checking, informed Inspector Rajeev Rauthan, in-charge of Bhagwanpur police station, along with the police team, who was riding the motorcycle. The miscreant was chased.
The miscreant left the motorcycle and ran into the sugarcane fields on the road going from Madanpur Hasanpur Tirahe to Barkala. By then, when Bhagwanpur police station and CIU Roorkee policemen arrived, the police team cordoned off the miscreant around the sugarcane fields.
After the information was given to the Roorkee control room by the inspector in-charge, in view of the seriousness of the incident, CIU Roorkee was also directed by SSP Haridwar to arrest the miscreant.
When the miscreant continuously opened fire on the police team, the said miscreant got injured in retaliatory firing by the police and got shot in his right leg. The miscreant was sent to the government hospital Roorkee for treatment.
SSP Haridwar Parmendra Dobal went to Civil Hospital Roorkee and inquired about the well-being of the injured criminal Shahzad son of Sheru, resident of Bhangeri Kotwali, Roorkee Haridwar and after taking detailed information about the incident from SP Rural Shri Swapan Kishore Singh, gave necessary directions to the subordinates.
The criminal history of the injured criminal is long-
Cases are registered against the said injured criminal Shahzad under about half a dozen serious sections including robbery. The police was searching for him for a long time, but due to his being very clever and changing his whereabouts repeatedly, he was still out of the police’s custody. A reward of ₹ 25000 was also announced on Shahzad for his continuous absconding.
