The administration and police have tightened their belts to ensure the successful completion of Makar Sankranti Snan festival. There will be strict police vigil at every nook and corner, the entire fair area will be under drone surveillance.

Haridwar: In the presence of Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Deependra Singh Negi, Superintendent of Police City (Nodal Officer Fair) Swatantra Kumar Singh and other officers, the forces appointed for Lohri/Makarskranti bathing festival were briefed in Rishikul Auditorium.FB IMG 1705147735742
During the briefing, the police force present by the administration and police officials was instructed as follows:

*It has been seen in the past baths that the crowd suddenly increases on the occasion of Lohri/Makarskranti bath, due to which we have to make all the small and big preparations in advance.

*Every zonal officer will control the population pressure in his/her area by using alternative routes in case of increasing crowd.
* The policeman appointed at each point has its own special significance. Any problem can arise due to even a little carelessness, hence everyone will discharge their responsibilities with determination and restraint.

*Duty in-charge at Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi will ensure that the devotees proceed in the queue. If crowd pressure increases, we will immediately inform the control room and keep the arrangements in order.

*The women personnel appointed at Mahila Ghat should discharge their duties with promptness. There is a possibility of more crowd at this place because every woman and her family members live nearby. No one should be given too much time to bathe. Devotees should be sent to their destination by continuously coming out of Mahila Ghat.
*During bathing, every employee has to come to his duty point on time and discharge his responsibilities with promptness.

*There is a possibility of devotees drowning at the ghats during bathing, the water police teams appointed at the ghats should be constantly present and alert so that any untoward incident can be prevented.

*Before/during the Snan festival, beggars should be removed from Har Ki Paidi area so that the devotees can move easily.
* Parking will be used to ensure smooth flow of traffic. Also, the diversions made should be implemented as per the made traffic plan, there should not be any kind of negligence in it.

* Entry of heavy vehicles in the district will be completely banned till the end of the bathing festival. No employee on duty will leave vehicles larger than his point.
*The police forces deployed on duty will not allow vehicles to be parked on the roadside in any way, whether it is a national highway or any other route. All vehicles should be sent to the designated parking.

*The duty in-charge appointed at the ghats should wake up the devotees sleeping on the ghats at 2:00 in the morning and vacate the ghats.

* All employees will maintain high level of discipline by wearing clean uniforms.
*No officer/employee will leave his duty place before the arrival of the replacement. Before leaving the duty point, you must inform your sector in-charge.

*Every zonal/sector in-charge will ensure to thoroughly brief the police force appointed in their respective zone sector. The report of the policeman who is absent from duty will be noted in the control room so that his replacement can be sent from the fair cell in time.
*John/Sector Incharge/Sector Magistrate will continue to coordinate among themselves and exchange beneficial information from time to time. All in-charges should exchange important numbers among themselves.

*Everyone will maintain cordial behavior with the devotees and will never use unnecessary mobile phones while on duty.

* Devotees should not be allowed to sit unnecessarily on the ghats. After bathing, they should be immediately sent out of the ghats towards their destination.
*It is necessary for everyone to be aware of the SOP made in view of contingencies during the bathing festival. We should know what to do and what not to do.

* Sufficient ropes and dividers should be kept at Har Ki Pedi and other ghats so that when the crowd increases, they can be used to control and divert the crowd.
*Tow vehicle should be appointed on every route so that in case of jam, the broken vehicle can be immediately shifted elsewhere.

*Medical vehicles along with staff should be deployed at important points so that devotees can get treatment on the spot if needed.
* One has to remain polite but firm while on duty and the devotees have to arrive and depart from their respective points for their destination.

* Reserve force has been arranged for special circumstances and which will be used as per requirement.

* The control room in-charge will assess the vehicles from the border districts to assess the crowd and will immediately inform the fair control and traffic in-charge so that the necessary arrangements can be completed on time.
On this occasion, SDM Sadar Ajay Bir Singh, SDM Bhagwanpur Jitendra Kumar, City Magistrate Ravindra Juwantha, all zonal/sector police officers and administrative sector magistrate and other officers/employees of police administration were present.
