How and for how many months were they doing recce
Aman Kamboj, Lucky and Subhash were planning to commit robbery by doing recce in different jeweler’s shops in Haridwar for the last four months and about four days before the incident of robbery at Shri Balaji Jewelers, they came to Haridwar and roaming around on bike and scooter and were continuously doing recce of this shop very closely.
The accused used to target such shops in which there was no guard or the guard was elderly or the guard did not have any weapon of any kind, which would make it easier for them to commit the crime. Also, they used to commit the crime at such a time when there was less movement. Therefore, Sunday was chosen to commit the crime in Shri Balaji Jewelers because on this day, the crowd is less as compared to other days, so the chances of getting caught were also less.
First of all, the shop was selected by roaming around the whole district. All the routes of coming and going were closely observed. Before the incident, the accused used to use fake IDs to stay in hotels/dharamshalas and also register fake phone numbers and after doing recce, they used to enter the identified shop, snatch the mobile phones of the shop employees, fire and spread terror, intimidate at gunpoint and while leaving after looting, they used to spray pepper so that they get time to escape. Also, they used to take the vehicles used in the robbery/dacoity a little ahead and dump them in a canal or bush or an unknown place and then use another vehicle to escape.
After the incident, to hide the tracking of their vehicles and routes, they used to escape by avoiding the CCTVs of different tolls on the way. They never used the main road, they also used the footpaths and unpaved roads of the villages so that they could not come in the eyes of the camera and the police could not reach any final conclusion by tracking them, but all their cleverness failed in front of Haridwar police.
Know in which states they had committed the crimes
The accused have previously committed robbery/dacoity incidents in Uttarakhand and Himachal and their leader Subhash’s “Karate Gang” has also committed many crimes in Haryana, Delhi and other states. The search for the above mentioned Subhash is going on by the police of many states.
