Within 48 Hours, Police Crack Case of Theft Involving Lakhs in Cash and Jewelry by Breaking into a Locked House; Notorious Drug-Addicted Thief Arrested, Stolen Jewelry and Cash Recovered; Accused Has Been to Jail for Previous Thefts

Jwalapur/Sarai Jwalapur: Akram, a resident of Sarai Jwalapur, filed a written complaint stating that an unknown individual broke the lock of the gate of his house and stole gold jewelry worth ₹3,50,000 kept in the wardrobe. Following the complaint, a case was registered at Jwalapur police station.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, under the direction of Haridwar SSP Pramendra Singh Dobal, the police team launched an investigation to identify the unknown thief. The team collected physical and digital evidence from around the crime scene and began questioning suspicious individuals. Based on continuous investigation and a tip-off, a suspect named Bilal was apprehended while heading towards the Bahadrabad area. Jewelry and cash stolen in the burglary were recovered from his possession.

During interrogation, the cunning accused confessed that he drives an e-rickshaw and is addicted to smack and alcohol, due to which he often resorts to theft to fund his addiction. He said he had dropped off a passenger near a wedding venue and, seeing no one around, took advantage of the situation by breaking the locks of the rooms and stealing cash and jewelry. The accused has previously served time in jail for theft cases registered at Jwalapur police station.

According to police sources, Bilal, son of Yaqoob, resident of Mohalla Pavdhoi, Badi Jwalapur, district Haridwar, was found in possession of stolen items, including jewelry worth ₹9,30,000.
