Allegations of Negligence and Theft in the Name of Repairing Expensive Car Music System in Shivalik Nagar; Vehicle Owner Seeks Justice from Senior Authorities
NEWS / THE POLICE TODAY
SHIVALIK NAGAR / A case of alleged technical negligence and disappearance of a costly car component has come to light at a private car service center in the Shivalik Nagar area of Haridwar. The vehicle owner has submitted a written complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), seeking legal action against those responsible.
According to information, on January 19, the vehicle owner visited a service center located in BHEL Shivalik Nagar to repair an audio issue in his Chevrolet car. It was reported that one of the four speakers in the vehicle was not functioning. Allegedly, while attempting to fix the minor issue, technical standards were ignored, resulting in the entire music system becoming non-functional.
As per the complainant, a short-circuit-like situation occurred during the repair work, and smoke began coming out of the vehicle. Fearing a possible fire, the wiring was removed by an electrician identified as Raja, a resident of Jwalapur, who was handling the repair at the time. This reportedly led to the complete failure of the audio system. The vehicle owner claims that instead of a trained technician, the work was assigned to an inexperienced individual, which worsened the damage.
The matter took a serious turn when the owner suspected that one of the car’s expensive speakers was missing. Upon questioning the electrician, no satisfactory explanation was provided. The owner stated that the audio system is a special model, with an estimated market value between ₹65,000 and ₹75,000, and that its components are not easily available in the market.
The complainant has further alleged that for the past month he has been repeatedly assured that a new system would be arranged and installed, but no concrete steps have been taken so far. He also claimed that he has been given evasive responses whenever he tried to follow up on the issue.
Distressed by the situation, the vehicle owner has filed a formal written complaint at the SSP office, demanding compensation for the financial loss, an investigation into the alleged theft, and accountability of the concerned individuals.
The matter is currently stated to be under review. The vehicle owner has indicated that if timely and appropriate action is not taken, he will approach the court for legal remedy. The incident raises serious concerns regarding technical competence and accountability at vehicle repair centers.
