Gorakhpur: As the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) probes the incident of an attack on police constables at the Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur. It has learnt that the accused Murtaza Abbasi was inspired by Zakir Naik. Reports stated that suspicious items, including jihadi videos were found from the laptop and pen drive of Abbasi. Interestingly, Naik, who fled India in 2016, is accused of involved in terror financing, giving hate speeches, money laundering and inciting communal disharmony. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today visited Gorakhpur to take stock of the ground situation. the UP ATS team officials today reached Mumbai to investigate the Gorakhnath Temple attack case. Yesterday, the team visited Navi Mumbai where the accused Murtaza used to live earlier with his family. Murtaza did not meet his family members for the last three years.Reports further stated that initial investigation has revealed that Murtaza Abbasi had gone to Mumbai, Coimbatore, and Nepal in the last few days. The sleuths are also questioning Murtaza’s two assistants. “The attack on police jawans at Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur is a part of deep conspiracy, and based on the available facts, it can be said that it was a terror incident.Uttar Pradesh officials have termed the attack on two constables at a gate of the famed Gorakhnath temple as a “terror incident”.The attacker had tried to enter the temple premises with bad intention, which was neutralised by the brave jawans of the PAC and police,” the UP Home Department said in its statement.On March 3, Murtaza Abbasi, armed with a sharp-edged weapon, forcibly tried to enter the premises of Gorakhnath Temple, and when the policemen tried to stop him, he atacked two constables. He also raised slogans ‘Allahu Akbar’ during the incident.UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for the two jawans and constable for foiling the attack. Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi confirmed that Gorakhnath Temple attack incident will be investigated by the UP ATS
