Haridwar: Haridwar district administration on Tuesday imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for five km around the village. After right-wing Hindu leaders announced a mahapanchayat in Dada Jalalpur village near Roorkee.

State convener of the Kali Sena, Swami Dineshanand Bharti, and six of his supporters who were preparing for the mahapanchayat despite the prohibitory orders were reportedly arrested.Swami Anand Swaroop, a Haridwar-based religious leader who has made anti-Muslim speeches in the past.Section 144 has been imposed in Dada Jalalpur and nearby 5 km area. All programs have been restricted.
