Uttarakhand/Haridwar: Public and Private Property Damage Recovery Bill will be stricter than the law applicable in Uttar Pradesh. For this, the brainstorming in the Home Department is almost complete. It is being told that some major changes have been made in it, different from the law of Uttar Pradesh. This bill will be presented in the Assembly tomorrow i.e. Thursday. After the implementation of this law in the state, it will be easy to compensate for the damage caused to properties during activities like demonstrations, riots etc.
In Uttarakhand, there is a defacement of public property law in case of damage to government properties. But, due to this, effective action cannot be taken against the rioters and saboteurs In such a situation,
after the recent incident in Banbhulpura, the government had planned to implement a strong law in the state also. The departments responsible for this have studied the laws applicable in Uttar Pradesh and other states.
Such laws are already in force in states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
The Home Department also completed brainstorming on this on Tuesday. It is being told that some rules and regulations in this law will be stricter than the law applicable in Uttar Pradesh.
“Gangster Amendment Bill introduced in Assembly”
The Uttar Pradesh Gangs and Anti-Social Activities (Gangster Act) Amendment Bill 2024 was introduced in the Assembly on Tuesday. Some special acts have been added to this bill which will help in cracking down on habitual criminals. New anti-copying laws, IT Act, Buds Act, Chit Fund Act etc. have been included in this. This means that now criminals against whom cases are registered for these crimes can also be charged with gangsterism. At the time of riot or demonstration, the department or individual will have to submit a claim within three months for compensation for the property. This claim can be made in various claim agencies headed by a retired district judge. Once charges are framed, the person concerned will have to compensate for the damaged property within a month. Situations like death and dismemberment will also be included in this. This bill will now be presented in the Assembly on Thursday.
