By whom efforts were being made to search for the missing Kartik. Meanwhile, the dead body of the above missing Karthik was recovered from the sugarcane field in village Khubbanpur police station Bhagwanpur, which prima facie revealed that the deceased was murdered and thrown in the sugarcane field. Under the leadership of CO Mangalore, 04 different police teams were formed by SO Bhagwanpur. 2 teams scanned all the CCTV footage around the incident site and village Khubbanpur and 2 teams conducted manual search, due to which two marriages took place in village Khubbanpur. On scanning the video footage of both the weddings, deceased Karthik was seen attending the day wedding but was not seen in any video of the night wedding.
Even after thoroughly interrogating Kartik’s children of his age, band members, tent owners and hundreds of people who attended the wedding, no useful information could be obtained. It was revealed in the statements of the relatives of the deceased and children and people of other villages that Karthik used to go with anyone out of greed for money but he used to go only with acquaintances.
When no lead was found in the incident, SSP Dobhal himself led the team and gave necessary tips to CO Mangalore in the crime seminar to thoroughly check
the video footage of both the weddings and the CCTV footage around the village and for verification by outsiders. was directed which yielded successful results. In a camera of the village, the deceased Karthik was seen going with the above mentioned person on the main road leading out of the village. The deceased son was identified by the father but the person with him could not be identified. The clothes worn and the manner of walking of the said person were again shown to the plaintiff and other people of the village for identification, after reviewing the other CCTV cameras of the village, about 70,80 people were verified and interrogated in depth, which brought this to light. I came to know that this person works in a company during the day.On this basis, verification was done by different police teams in the factory near Mahdi Chowk in which many suspects came to light who do duty during the day and go at night but no information was found regarding the verification of the said person in the factory. The name of the more suspicious person came to light, Ajay Sharma who lives on rent in Khubanpur. Thereafter, the said Ajay Sharma was searched in the village by the police team but the said person was not found in the village, who was caught by the police team on the way to Amorvet Company, who revealed the whole secret of the murder during interrogation. Ajay Sharma, along with his parents and two children, has been living on rent with his relative Rajeev Sharma in village Khubbanpur for the last 6 months and his wife had died in the year 2020. He, through his acquaintance, gave birth to a woman in Mahdi Chowk. Took along with me to the sugarcane field in village Khubbanpur. There, in a vacant plot nearby, the deceased Karthik was playing with another child whose ball landed in the sugarcane field and the deceased saw him in an objectionable position with a woman. At that time, I explained to Karthik that this matter should not be shared with anyone. I didn’t want to tell, but that child didn’t agree and ran away from there. I knew Karthik, he used to go to the village with my children to eat chow mein on a cart. I was scared that if he told this to my family members or anyone in the village, I would be greatly insulted in the society. That evening, after drinking a lot of alcohol, I searched for Karthik but could not find him and could not sleep even at night. Next day I went to the company in the morning. When I came back from the company, I found Karthik near the primary school and then I made a plan in my mind to kill Karthik. And I took him along with me after luring him with money and asking him to meet his aunty and took him to Barseen’s field near the sugarcane field, strangulated Kartik to death with my own hands and picked him up and threw him in the nearby sugarcane field. Gave it so that no one could see it. On the suspicion of the accused, clothes and shoes were recovered on the first day of the incident.
