Under the “Drug-Free Devbhoomi – 2025” Campaign: Joint Operation by Ranipur Police and ANTF Leads to Seizure of 8 kg Illegal Cannabis; Two Women and One Male Smuggler in Custody

RANIPUR POLICE / Under the leadership of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Haridwar, the Haridwar Police continues its intensive campaign against drug traffickers as part of the “Drug-Free Devbhoomi – 2025” initiative.
In this sequence, during a joint checking operation today by the Ranipur Police Station and the ANTF team, three traffickers were taken into custody and a large quantity of illegal cannabis was recovered from their possession.
During the checking near the road leading to Vishnulok, one suspicious male and two females were stopped and searched. The accused Mushtaq, son of Tahir, was found with 2.045 kg of illegal cannabis in a white sack. Two women, Mushtaq’s wife and Nawab’s wife, were found carrying 5.870 kg of illegal cannabis in their bags. In total, 7.915 kg of illegal cannabis was recovered from the three suspects.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to collect small amounts of cannabis from various sadhus (holy men) visiting Haridwar and then pack it into small pouches, selling each for ₹100.
The trio had been involved in this activity jointly for a long time and were on their way to Haridwar to sell the cannabis at the time of arrest.
A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant sections, and further legal proceedings are underway.
