Major Crackdown on Drug Trafficking: SSP Holds Key Meeting on NDPS Act Implementation in Haridwar

NEWS / THE POLICE TODAY

Haridwar, August 2 – Under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a high-level meeting was convened at the district police headquarters today, chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pramendra Singh Dobal. The meeting was attended by all gazetted officers and investigating officers handling NDPS-related cases.

During the session, SSP Dobal expressed serious concern over the sluggish pace in investigating pending cases related to narcotic drugs. He issued stern warnings to negligent officers and emphasized the need for more impactful and result-oriented action under the NDPS Act.

“The goal is not just to arrest drug traffickers,” SSP Dobal stated, “but to trace the complete supply chain—where the drugs are coming from, who they’re being supplied to, and to uncover the entire network involved.”

In the review meeting, ongoing investigations and pending cases were thoroughly assessed. Investigating officers who had shown laxity in their duties were reprimanded, and strict directions were issued to expedite the process of identifying and apprehending absconding accused.

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) was instructed to enhance coordination with all police stations and formulate a stringent strategy against the drug menace. SSP Dobal also directed the opening of history-sheets for habitual offenders and stressed the importance of initiating property seizure actions against those who have amassed wealth through illegal drug trade.

The meeting marked a significant step towards intensifying the district police’s fight against narcotics and underscored a shift toward more proactive and investigative policing.
