SP GRP Tripti Bhatt’s Strategic Vision and Proactive Leadership Tighten the Noose on Liquor Smugglers — Major Seizure by GRP Kathgodam
NEWS / THE POLICE TODAY
Haridwar :Under the dynamic leadership of IPS officer Tripti Bhatt, the Government Railway Police (GRP) continues to strike hard against illegal liquor trade. Since taking charge, SP Tripti Bhatt has actively conducted crime review meetings and inspections, consistently motivating and guiding her team toward impactful and result-oriented policing. Her clear strategy and firm direction are now yielding tangible outcomes.
Following her directives, the GRP Kathgodam launched a targeted operation against individuals involved in the sale of illicit country-made liquor. As part of this initiative, a team led by GRP Outpost In-charge Tribhuwan Joshi, under the supervision of Station In-charge Naresh Kohli, conducted a routine check along the railway tracks between Lalkuan and Gularbhoj.
During the operation, officers grew suspicious of a man carrying a dirty-colored sack on his shoulder. When approached, the individual tried to flee but was apprehended after a short chase. He was identified as Kuldeep Singh, son of Chiman Singh, a native of Saharawala, Nagina, District Bijnor (U.P.), and currently residing in Bindu Khera, Lalkuan. Aged 25, Kuldeep was found in possession of 63 liters of illegal country-made liquor.
A case has been registered against him under the Excise Act at GRP Police Station Kathgodam, and the accused has been taken into custody.
Living Large at a Cost: The Motive Behind the Crime
Investigations revealed that Kuldeep Singh is barely educated, having studied only up to class 2. Recently married, he previously worked in a private factory in the SIDCUL area of Rudrapur. However, the job offered meager pay with frequent salary deductions on leaves. Desiring a more luxurious lifestyle, he turned to smuggling of country-made liquor for quick money. Notably, he had already been arrested once before in Nainital district on similar charges.
Local Applause for the GRP Team
The swift and effective action by the Lalkuan GRP Outpost has been widely appreciated by the local residents, who expressed their satisfaction and gratitude.
